Janet Buckle
Born 1945
Janet Buckle trained at the Slade School of Art in London. Her mining images draw inspiration from the South Yorkshire coalfield where she lives.
Janet first became fascinated by the ever-changing coal mining landscape in the early 1990s, when she regularly drove past the coal workings of Harworth Colliery in Nottinghamshire. Subsequently, she found ready inspiration in the collieries of South and West Yorkshire, capturing their constantly changing topography. Janet held her first coal mining exhibition in Doncaster in 1997.
